The 230th edition of the Maidult opens on Saturday, April 25, 2026, and ends on Sunday, May 3. The concept remains unchanged: traditional market goods, rides for families, and Bavarian gastronomy on Mariahilfplatz.

One of Munich's Oldest Traditions
The Auer Dult is one of the oldest market events in Bavaria. The first Jakobidult took place on Sankt-Jakobs-Platz as early as 1310. In 1796, the then-independent village of Au officially received the right to hold a market – and thus the now world-famous three Dulten were established on Mariahilfplatz: Maidult, Jakobidult, and Kirchweihdult.
What to Expect at the Maidult
Around 250 stalls showcase a range of goods that is unique in its diversity in Southern Germany:
- Crockery, porcelain, ceramics, and pottery
- Household goods, pans, pots, brushes
- Antiques and collector's items
- Basketry, felt slippers, curtains
- Spices, jams, and sweet specialties
- Toys, books, jewelry
Rides and Bavarian Delicacies
Families get their money's worth at the rides: the historic Ferris wheel from 1925, a carousel, bumper cars, and a Punch and Judy show are part of the permanent inventory. Reduced prices apply to the rides on Family Tuesday. For culinary delights, enjoy "Steckerlfisch" (grilled fish on a stick), roast chicken, cheese specialties, fresh "Schupfnudeln" (potato noodles), and sweet "Krapfen" (doughnuts).
More Than a Market — A Piece of Munich Lifestyle
The Maidult is more relaxed and family-friendly than Oktoberfest. Here you'll meet Munich locals who have known their regular vendors for decades, older ladies looking for the perfect crockery, and children marveling at the Ferris wheel. During the Dult, concerts are regularly held in the nearby Mariahilfkirche.
