Biennial Open-Air Series
The Ansbach Open was first held in 2024 and takes place every two years. The organizer is the cultural department of the Kammerspiele Ansbach; performances are held on the modern campus of the Ansbach University of Applied Sciences. The move away from the historic Brückencenter location to the green university environment with modern architecture and green spaces has significantly boosted the festival's local perception.
Three Evenings, Three Moods
Programmatically, the festival is structured into three clearly separated evenings: Friday is for families and musical cabaret — the summer show by Tobi »Checker Tobi« Krell as a family program, followed by the Bavarian musical cabaret duo Hannes Ringlstetter & Stephan Zinner. Saturday is a country-rock evening: The BossHoss play their »Back To The Boots« tour with hits and wild west energy. Sunday is pop day with the multi-platinum-selling KAMRAD (»I Believe«) and special guest Loi, who is stepping in at short notice for Madeline Juno, who had to cancel due to pregnancy.
Ansbach and the Kammerspiele
Ansbach is the seat of the Middle Franconia regional government and an independent city; the Kammerspiele is the most important theater and concert hall in the region. With the Ansbach Open, they have developed a larger open-air format that exceeds the usual hall capacity and makes the city visible on the national festival calendar. Ticketing is deliberately dual-track: Reservix online (with a service fee) and the Kammerspiele's K-Büro directly on-site, which sells tickets without surcharge — information that is gladly passed on to regular customers.
