About Schützenfest Rosellerheide-Neuenbaum

From June 27 to 30, 2026, the St. Peter and Paul 1879 Marksmen's Brotherhood will celebrate its traditional marksmen's festival in the Neuss districts of Rosellerheide and Neuenbaum. A new feature in 2026: for the first time, the brotherhood will march with a junior marksmen's section for 10- to 15-year-olds in the parade — a generational change in Rhenish marksmen's traditions. The Crown Prince for 2026 is Marc Dahmen from the Sappeur Corps.

147 Years of Marksmen Tradition in Neuss

The St. Peter and Paul 1879 Rosellerheide-Neuenbaum Marksmen's Brotherhood is one of the traditional brotherhoods in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss district. Since 1879, it has preserved the customs in the Neuss districts, contributing to their history. The 2026 marksmen's festival will take place from Saturday, June 27 to Tuesday, June 30, 2026 — four days of parades, funfair, crown shooting, and celebratory balls.

Generational Change: New Junior Marksmen's Section

A notable innovation for the 2026 edition: the St. Peter and Paul Brotherhood is establishing its own junior marksmen's section for the first time, catering to youths aged 10 to 15 years. This section will make its debut in the parade in its own uniform at the 2026 marksmen's festival — a significant signal for long-term youth development, as the marksmen's tradition thrives on introducing young people to the brotherhood's customs. This initiative is being closely watched in the Rhein-Kreis Neuss region.

Royal Couple and Crown Prince 2026

The new Crown Prince 2026 comes from the Sappeur Corps: Marc Dahmen was proclaimed heir apparent on May 3, 2026. The current Royal Couple will lead the festival for the last time in 2026 before the Crown Prince becomes the new Marksmen King at the end of June.

Program and Tradition

The schedule for the marksmen's festival follows a Rhenish structure that has evolved over more than a century. Preparations include the Crown Bird Shooting (May 2), officer meetings (May 20), and the Royal and Senior Officers' Evening (June 5). The actual festival begins on Saturday with official visits and a celebratory banquet. Sunday features a church service and the grand parade. Monday centers on the Royal Ball, and Tuesday concludes the festival with Family Day. Table reservations for 2026 will be taken exclusively at the officer meeting on May 20 — no subsequent reservations will be possible.

Rosellerheide and Neuenbaum — Neuss on the Edge of the Rhein-Kreis

The districts of Rosellerheide and Neuenbaum are located on the western outskirts of Neuss and retain a village character amidst a large urban agglomeration. Marksmen's festivals here are not tourist spectacles but living village traditions — visitors immerse themselves in an authentic Rhenish community spirit. The Rhein-Kreis Neuss hosts around 100 marksmen's festivals between May and October — this one is among the most vibrant on the western edge.

Parade and Uniforms

For those who wish to experience the marksmen's festival in its full regalia, the grand parade on Sunday is a must-see: marksmen in uniform, the Royal Couple in ceremonial attire, brass bands, and drum corps march through both districts. The sight — historical costumes, drums, marching bands, the gold and red festival banner — is the visual heart of Rhenish marksmen's traditions.
