A Classic Swabian Club Festival
The Frühlingsfest of the Musikverein Neuler is a fixture in the Ostalb district. Over the extended Ascension Day weekend — Thursday to Sunday — the Schlierbachhalle in Schlierbach (a district of Neuler) transforms into the convivial centre of the region between Aalen and Ellwangen.
Day-by-Day Program
Thursday (Ascension Day, Father's Day) starts at 11 am with the Frühschoppen, played by the Musikverein Rindelbach. In the evening, the 'Vatertags-Cup' — a local competition — and a concert by 'Die Schwäbisch-Böhmischen' follow. Friday is all about the youth: from 8 pm, the 'Summer Opening – powered by High Life' party with DJ takes place. Saturday is a chance to catch your breath with a Vesperabend (fresh baked goods from Bäckerei Munz from 5 pm, catering in a relaxed format). Sunday concludes classically with the Frühschoppen starting at 11 am (Musikverein Horn), a vintage car meet outside, and the youth ensemble at 2:30 pm.
Neuler in the Ostalb District
Neuler is located in the Ostalb district on the eastern edge of Baden-Württemberg, on the border with Bavaria, about 12 km north of Aalen. With just under 3,000 inhabitants, it is a small municipality but with an extremely active club life. The Musikverein Neuler is one of the defining institutions of the community — the Schlierbachhalle, where the festival takes place, is the social centre, especially for Schlierbach and the surrounding farms.
Atmosphere and Audience
You'll recognise the Swabian club festival immediately: beer benches, brass music from the rural music association repertoire, Frühschoppen on Sunday mornings, Vesper plates with Rote Wurst, Wienerle, and Bauernbrot. The audience mixes generations — families with children on Sunday, young adults on Friday, regulars at all times. Admission is low-threshold, and catering is club-based (proceeds go to the Musikverein).
