The Old Town Becomes a Stage
The Altstadtfest is one of the highlights of the event year in Ansbach, the former residence city of the Margraves and present-day district capital of Middle Franconia. For five days, the historic old town transforms into a continuous festival mile – the unique backdrop of historic buildings, picturesque alleys, and charming courtyards provides the setting.

At 21 venues – including Montgelasplatz, Kaspar-Hauser-Platz, Reitbahn, Fermoplatz, and Martin-Luther-Platz – live music can be heard on several stages. In addition, there is street art, theater performances, a beer premiere, a children's program, and after-show parties in venues such as Speckdrumm, Ansbacher Kammerspiele, or Alte Resi. The open shopping Sunday additionally attracts visitors to stroll through the city center.

From June 3rd to 7th, 2026, the Ansbach old town will transform into a five-day festival mile. At 21 venues – including Montgelasplatz, Kaspar-Hauser-Platz, Reitbahn, Fermoplatz, and Martin-Luther-Platz – there will be live music, street art, theater performances (including "The Selfish Giant"), a beer premiere, and a children's program. The open shopping Sunday will take place on June 7th. After-show parties in venues such as Speckdrumm, Ansbacher Kammerspiele, and Alte Resi will round off the festival. The culinary offerings range from Franconian to international cuisine.
