A Garden and Art Market in Franconian Switzerland
The Fränkische Kunst- & Rosentage are among the most beautiful garden and plant markets in the northern Franconian Switzerland. The picturesque Marienplatz in the historic town center of Hollfeld (Bayreuth district) is the venue. For two days, the square transforms into a meeting point for garden lovers, plant enthusiasts, and arts and crafts aficionados.
Organized by Gartenkönig
The traditional event is organized by Gartenkönig, an organizer specializing in garden and plant markets. Around the Marienplatz, selected exhibitors present perennials, roses, rarities, garden accessories, handmade slate products (clocks, coasters, house numbers), as well as arts and crafts and decorations for home and garden.
The Famous Terraced Gardens
A unique feature of the event are the Hollfeld Terraced Gardens, which can be visited on both days as part of guided tours. They showcase an extraordinary variety of plants – including native orchids and alpine plants – and are a living piece of garden culture in the middle of the old town.
Supporting Program and Enjoyment
The program includes expert lectures on sustainable, resource-efficient gardening, musical accompaniment, city tours starting at the town hall, and activities for children. The Franconian Countrywomen, among others, provide culinary delights with homemade cakes and coffee.

Hollfeld is located in the heart of Franconian Switzerland, nestled in a landscape of valleys, rocks, and castles. The Kunst- & Rosentage combine garden culture, regional arts and crafts, and Franconian hospitality into an atmospheric spring highlight.
Kunst- & Rosentage Hollfeld — edition 2026
The 2026 edition spans the weekend of May 16th to 17th, from 10 AM to 6 PM daily. Saturday begins at 11:00 AM with a festive opening by a marching band. On both days, Linda Trillhaase provides musical accompaniment throughout the event; guided tours of the terraced gardens and city tours (meeting point at the town hall) will take place. Saturday additionally features expert lectures on climate- and resource-conscious gardening, performances by the music school group »Die Synkopen«, dance performances by the »FCF HEXEN«, and puppet theater in the museum courtyard. Sunday is more family-oriented with face painting and crafts at the family center, a spring dance by the municipal music school, and a blessing for lovers at 4:00 PM in the parish church.

Getting There
Hollfeld can be reached via the A9 (exit Pegnitz or Trockau) or the B22. Marienplatz is located in the historic town center. New: Shuttle service between the parking lot and the event entrance (Adults €3.00, Children €2.00 per round trip).
