The Kirchweih Hollfeld is among the liveliest Kirchweihen (Kerwa) in the Fränkische Schweiz. It is celebrated in the town of Hollfeld as well as in the districts of Treppendorf and Drosendorf, located in the Bayreuth district, Bavaria. The Kirchweih is traditionally observed on the Sunday closest to September 8th and celebrated over several days.
What is a Kirchweih?
The Kirchweih (Kerwa) originally commemorates the consecration of the local church and is one of the most important village and town festivals in Franconia. It combines a religious celebration with secular conviviality: dance evenings, traditional music, festival activities, and community gatherings characterize the days.
