Village festival of the horticultural association in the Altmühltal
The Dorffest Seuversholz is one of those small summer events that keep club life vibrant in Bavarian villages. The organizer is the Seuversholz Horticultural Association — and the name says it all: Many Bavarian horticultural associations not only cultivate fruit and vegetables but are also pillars of village life, with their own festival calendar and a close connection to the local population.
Seuversholz is a district of the municipality of Pollenfeld in the Eichstätt district — one of the most scenic regions of Upper Bavaria. The Altmühltal with its rock formations, meadows, and forests, the nearby Altmühltal Nature Park with its hiking trails, and the historic episcopal city of Eichstätt, about 10 km away, shape the surroundings. Pollenfeld itself is a small municipality with several districts, each with its own club life.
With opening hours from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM, the village festival offers a program for the whole day. The midday is for Frühschoppen (morning pint) with sausages, roast pork, and beer — in the afternoon, the festival develops into a family meeting point. In the late afternoon and evening, live music or a DJ takes over, then people dance, celebrate, and foster club life.
The Seuversholz Community Hall, a typical small club house with an adjacent outdoor area, serves as the festival backdrop. Celebrations take place outside in good weather, and inside if it rains — the association is prepared for all eventualities. The association members themselves handle the catering, the food is homemade, and the atmosphere is familial.
Anyone who wants to experience a real Bavarian village festival — without tourist staging, with real locals, and with the unvarnished conviviality that characterizes such events in Franconian-Bavarian villages — will find it at the Dorffest Seuversholz. It is small, personal, and unpretentious: the opposite of the big Volksfeste (popular festivals), but an authentic piece of village culture.
The 2026 village festival offers a long summer day with twelve hours of festivities. The Seuversholz Horticultural Association is fully responsible for the organization: from setup to catering to dismantling late in the evening. Members bring their specialties, and homemade cakes complement the hearty offerings in the afternoon.
As every year, the festival is also an opportunity for the association to foster member loyalty and recruit new members. The net proceeds go towards the association's work and the maintenance of the scattered orchards and community areas around Seuversholz.
