Pollenfeld and its districts

Pollenfeld is a small municipality in the district of Eichstätt, nestled in the hilly landscape of the Altmühltal Nature Park. The municipality consists of several districts, each with its own club and festival traditions. Weigersdorf is one of these districts – a village with a dedicated fire department, a shooting club, and a committed village community that organizes the annual village festival together.

The fire station as the festival grounds

The venue is the Weigersdorf fire station with its adjoining forecourt – a classic rural festival site, equipped with beer tables, gazebos, and a small stage. The volunteer fire department traditionally organizes the festival weekend, supported by the other local clubs. The festival begins on Saturday afternoon and continues into the late evening.

Sociability in the village

The Dorffest Weigersdorf is a typical Bavarian summer festival: not a commercial attraction, but a genuine club festival, driven by volunteer work and neighborly help. The menu includes freshly grilled steaks, sausages, fries, cakes, and coffee; for drinks, there is fresh draft beer, soft drinks, and coffee specialties. A local band or a music club provides the musical accompaniment.

In the Altmühltal Nature Park

The festival weekend is an ideal opportunity to explore the Altmühltal Nature Park by bike or on foot. The Altmühl river, white Jura limestone rocks, beech forests, and small villages like Weigersdorf characterize the landscape. Pollenfeld is located about half an hour northeast of Eichstätt – those who stay overnight there have the full Bavarian summer village program right on their doorstep.
