Three Clubs, One Week
The cooperation of the three sailing clubs ESV, WVE, and YCA for the joint youth sailing week demonstrates the growing club life in East Frisia. While the individual clubs maintain their own training procedures, the joint summer week enables a greater variety of courses, more trainers per student, and social interaction between the young sailors of the different clubs.
Optimist Courses as the Core Program
The focus is on the Optimist courses. The Optimist dinghy is the most widespread youth dinghy worldwide and offers children from around 7 to 8 years of age an ideal learning platform for sailing. Courses are offered at various skill levels: beginners, advanced, and competition training. Training takes place during the day on the Kleines Meer (ESV/WVE) or the Großes Meer (YCA).
Opti-Ossi-Cup as the Finale
The final highlight is the Opti-Ossi-Cup on July 17 and 18, 2026, on the Kleines Meer. In this cup, young Optimist sailors from the East Frisian region compete in races designed to be both results-oriented and learning-goal-oriented. The cup is an important date in the regional youth sailing calendar.
Registration and Sponsorship
Registration is through the respective clubs: Emder Segelverein (emder-segelverein.de), Wassersportverein Emden, and Yacht Club Aurich. Due to limited boat and trainer capacity, early registration is recommended.
