About Ansbacher Weinfest

The Ansbacher Weinfest transforms Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Platz in the heart of the Middle Franconian residence city into an open mile of culinary delights once in August. In front of the baroque backdrop of St. Gumbertus, three Franconian wineries serve around 30 wines, live music creates the atmosphere, and Franconian cuisine ranges from Bratwurst and Schäuferla to sweet specialties. Free admission – an urban counterpart to the large Franconian wine village festivals, organized by the Fränkischer Weinbauverband and Zametzer & Krohn.

A Young Wine Festival with a Grand Backdrop

The Ansbacher Weinfest is one of the newer events in the Franconian wine calendar. 2026 will see its fourth edition – in just a few years, the festival has established itself as a firm fixture in the summer program of the Middle Franconian residence city. The venue is the central Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Platz, with St. Gumbertus Church providing an impressive urban backdrop.

Three Wineries, Around Thirty Wines

For each edition, three Franconian wineries present their ranges on-site: Weingut Goger (Sand am Main, Haßberge district), Weingut Biegner (Prichsenstadt, Kitzingen district), and Weingut Mönchshof (Kleinochsenfurt near Würzburg). In total, around 30 Franconian wines are available for tasting – from Silvaner and Müller-Thurgau to Bacchus and red wines like Domina and Spätburgunder. The vintners serve the wine themselves and are available to answer questions about vineyard sites, vintages, and winemaking.

Mile of Delights on Bach-Platz

Surrounding the wine stands are food trucks and stalls offering Franconian cuisine, sweet treats, and non-alcoholic alternatives. Every evening, live bands perform on the stage at Bach-Platz; the musical spectrum ranges from Bavarian pop and cover bands to jazz and small classical ensembles. The Franconian Wine Queen is traditionally expected at the opening.

Ansbach – Margrave City on the Edge of the Franconian Metropolis

Ansbach is the seat of the Middle Franconian regional government and, with its Residence Palace, the Hofgarten park, and its historic old town, is one of the most beautiful Margrave cities in Southern Germany. The wine festival complements the summer events Bachwoche, Frühlingsfest, and the Ansbach Rococo Festivals with an open, urban moment of enjoyment without an admission barrier.

Ansbacher Weinfest — edition 2026

The fourth edition of the Ansbacher Weinfest will take place from Thursday, August 13 to Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Johann-Sebastian-Bach-Platz. Three Franconian wineries (Goger, Biegner, Mönchshof) will serve around 30 wines, complemented by daily live bands, Franconian cuisine, and sweet treats. Opening on Thursday at 6:30 PM, traditionally with the Franconian Wine Queen.

The 2026 edition continues the proven format: four days of wine service against the backdrop of St. Gumbertus, organized by Fränkischer Weinbauverband e.V. and Zametzer & Krohn GbR. In addition to the classic 'Schoppen' varieties, the participating wineries are experimenting with special vintages and cuvées; some wines are bottled exclusively for the event.

Every evening, live bands perform on the stage at Bach-Platz. The complete music program will be announced by the organizer in the weeks leading up to the festival.
