International music festival featuring classical, pop, jazz, and crossover in the Regentenbau
For years, the Kissinger Winterzauber has been the musical heart of winter in Bad Kissingen. Over approximately three weeks between mid-December and early January, the festival utilizes several historic concert halls in the spa resort: the prestigious Regentenbau with the Max-Littmann-Saal and the Rossini-Saal, the Kurtheater, as well as other venues in the Kurgarten. The organizer is Bayerische Staatsbad Bad Kissingen GmbH.
The program deliberately bridges genres. Classical music forms the foundation – featuring renowned artists, the esteemed Jungmusikkorps Bad Kissingen, and a traditional New Year's concert. Alongside these, the organizers also bring pop vocalists like Stefanie Heinzmann (whose songs are performed in classical arrangements), former rock greats like Ray Wilson (Genesis), the Belgian pop choir Scala & Kolacny Brothers with their a cappella cover versions, and folk-inspired acts like voXXclub with their 'Burning Lederhos'n Show' to Bad Kissingen.
Sixteen events are spread across three weeks. The spectrum ranges from solo concerts and choir evenings to crossover programs with classical ensembles and the New Year's concert. Most concerts begin at 7:30 PM in the Max-Littmann-Saal of the Regentenbau or at the Kurtheater.
Bad Kissingen, a UNESCO World Heritage spa town ('Great Spas of Europe') and district capital in the Lower Franconian district of Bad Kissingen, is renowned far beyond Bavaria. The Regentenbau, inaugurated in 1913 according to plans by Max Littmann, is one of Central Europe's most magnificent concert and spa buildings – the Max-Littmann-Saal alone, with its acoustics and spatial architecture, is a major draw for classical music travelers. The Winterzauber is the winter counterpart to the well-known 'Kissinger Sommer' festival and uses the same venues.
Tickets are available through the Tourist Information office in the Arkadenbau, directly by the Kurgarten, and online. Bad Kissingen is accessible by train from Würzburg, Schweinfurt, or Frankfurt; the train station is very close to the venues.
The Kissinger Winterzauber 2026/27 runs from December 11, 2026, to January 2, 2027. This edition continues the festival's established approach: 16 concerts over three weeks, spread across the various halls of the spa town, featuring a mix of classical programs, crossover evenings, pop concerts in classical arrangements, and modern folk formats.
