The Advent der Nachbarn is one of the first Advent events on the island of Usedom and officially marks the start of the pre-Christmas season in the Baltic Sea resort of Karlshagen. On the last weekend of November, the beach forecourt transforms into a small, cosy Advent market, deliberately focusing on a neighbourly atmosphere rather than mass tourism.
Crafts and Regional Specialties
The focus is on handmade products from regional craftswomen and craftsmen — ceramics, knitwear, woodwork, amber jewellery, and Christmas decorations. Food stalls offer mulled wine, punch, bratwurst, fresh Baltic Sea fish rolls, gingerbread, and sweet crispy hearts. The location directly on the beach gives the event a unique flair — sea breeze, salty air, and the sound of the Baltic Sea form the backdrop to the pre-Christmas market.

Karlshagen — Island Sparkle and Beach Advent
The Advent der Nachbarn is part of the comprehensive Inselglitzern (Island Sparkle), which transforms the entire island of Usedom into a sea of lights from the end of November to mid-January. Every day from 4 PM to 10 PM, promenades, beaches, and piers glow in warm light. This positions Karlshagen — nestled between Peenemünde and Trassenheide — as an Advent destination in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district and complements the diverse winter offerings of the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
