Volksfest with rides at the Bleeck
Bad Bramstedt is a town with just under 15,000 inhabitants in the Segeberg district, centrally located in the state of Schleswig-Holstein. The Bleeck — the historic market square in the city centre — has been a festival ground for centuries: medieval markets, livestock and funfairs, harvest festivals, Christmas markets. Today, the Roland monument stands here as a symbol of the old market rights town, and three times a year the square is transformed into a Volksfest.
The town organises three funfairs: the Spring Market in April, the Autumn Market at the end of August, and the Lukas Market in autumn. The Spring Market opens the season — it is considered the date on which the people of Bramstedt officially bid farewell to the long winter and welcome the warm season.
What you'll find at the Spring Market: carousels for the little ones, dodgems, a Ferris wheel or swings (depending on the year and the showman's setup), hook-a-duck stalls, duck fishing, shooting galleries. Alongside culinary classics: candy floss, candied almonds, Schmalzkuchen (a type of fried pastry), grilled bratwurst, gingerbread hearts with inscriptions like "For the best Mum". The atmosphere is that of a classic North German funfair — compact, family-friendly, and intergenerational.
Bad Bramstedt is a state-recognised spa and therapy town — known for its mud therapy, the Bad Bramstedt Clinic, and the Rheumatism Centre. Visitors to the Spring Market can combine their stay with a walk by the Mühlenteich pond, a visit to the Roland fountain, or a detour to the spa gardens.
The selection of rides and stalls is coordinated annually by the town of Bad Bramstedt. Exhibitor inquiries via Jennifer Jagusch ([email protected], Tel. 04192/506814). The Autumn Market counterpart in 2026 will take place from August 28 — 30, 2026, with identical opening hours and format.
