Two days of concerts, readings, workshops, and creative projects in Spandau churches and cultural venues
48 Hours Spandau is a festival format originating from an unusual organizer: the Evangelical Church District of Spandau. Instead of limiting itself to its worship program, the church opens its spaces and squares for a broad cultural program on a June weekend. Concerts, readings, creative workshops, plays, and discussions—all formats share the aim of combining artistic quality and spiritual dimension without being preachy.
The festival runs from Friday evening to Sunday evening—exactly 48 hours, hence the name. The main venue is located at Jüdenstraße 37, in the heart of Spandau's old town, within the church district's premises. Further events are spread throughout the district—Spandau churches, cultural centers, cinemas, association rooms. The program managers are Bettina Kammer (Public Relations) and Dominic Riemenschneider (Cultural Management). Partners include local associations, initiatives, and cultural institutions.
The Spandau district in western Berlin is the most populous outer district and at the same time one of the least visited by tourists. Incorporated into Berlin in 1920, Spandau has its own medieval old town, an important 16th-century citadel, and a strong identity that distinguishes it from inner-city Berlin. The festival is also an attempt to make the cultural scene of this district visible to a wider audience.
The festival combines artistic expression with a spiritual dimension. The exact program structure will be published on 48-stunden-spandau.de in the weeks leading up to the festival. Organizer: Evangelical Church District of Spandau, in cooperation with local associations, cinemas, and cultural centers.
The 48 Hours Spandau 2026 festival runs from June 19th to 21st, 2026 in Berlin-Spandau. Main venue: Church District Spandau, Jüdenstraße 37, 13597 Berlin-Spandau (Old Town). Further venues spread throughout the district — Spandau churches, cultural centers, cinemas, association rooms.
