Mellrichstadt, Rhön, and Motorcycle Culture

Mellrichstadt is located in the extreme north of Bavaria, in the Rhön-Grabfeld district, on the border with Thuringia. The hilly Rhön landscape with its winding country roads attracts motorcyclists from all over southern Germany in the spring. Since its premiere in 2003, the Bike Weekend has been the unofficial season opener for the region's biker community.

Meadow as Festival Grounds

The venue is the Streuwiese in the south of the town, a generously dimensioned area that is specially prepared for the festival each year. Here you'll find the stage, the festival tent, the food stalls, the bar, and ample space for motorcycles and tents. Those arriving by bike can stay overnight right on site and only need to walk a few steps to the nearest breakfast coffee in the morning.

Program between Rock and Merriment

The three days each have their own musical character: Friday starts with hearty Franconian home cooking and a party band, then the DJ takes over with 90s and 2000s disco. Saturday is reserved for harder sounds with two live acts from the rock and metal scene. Sunday is quieter and family-friendly: morning pint, coffee and cake, entertainment for children, bouncy castle.

Charm of a Participatory Festival

The Mellerschter Bike Weekend is organized on a voluntary basis by the local Bike-Weekend-Team. There are no corporate logos, no VIP areas, no overpriced tickets. Tickets are only available at the box office, the food is deliberately down-to-earth, and the atmosphere is reminiscent of the good old days of non-commercial festival culture. Those hoping for big headliners are in the wrong place – those who appreciate honest Franconian festival spirit in a leather vest will return every year.
