Fourth Wormser Weinmeile in the historic city wall moat with eleven wine stands and 20 vintners
In the Middle Ages, Worms was one of the most important Free Imperial Cities – a coronation and imperial diet venue for German emperors. Of the once-mighty city fortifications, remnants of the wall, gate towers, and the characteristic city wall moat are preserved today. This historical substance forms the spectacular backdrop for the Weinmeile: the wine stands are set up in the moat, the old walls form the background scenery, creating a unique play of light at sunset.
The 4th edition in 2026 brings together eleven wine stands, representing around 20 vintners from Worms and Rheinhessen. Participating Worms wineries include Weingut Spohr (Pfeddersheim), Weingut Schneickert, Weingut Müsel & Schäfer (Herrnsheim), Klosterhof Lösch (Abenheim), and St. Michaels-Hof, among others. They are joined by guest vintners from the hilly Rheinhessen region. Each stand presents a deliberately curated selection that reflects the style of the respective vintner.
With the "Bummelpass" (stroll pass) for €25, visitors can enjoy multiple wine tastings at various stands and get to know the range of participating vintners – an attractive format for those who wish to taste and compare wines.
Thursday officially opens at 5 PM at Lutherplatz – a place of symbolic significance, as the traditional Lutherweg (Luther Trail) begins here. Festivities also start at 5 PM on Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, wine will be poured from 12 PM onwards. Open until 10 PM (until 6 PM on Sunday). Culinary delights are provided by Worms' gastronomy, offering a diverse range – from "Spundekäs" and "Saumagen" to Mediterranean specialties and "Flammkuchen" (Tarte Flambée).
The Weinmeile is the counterpart to the Backfischfest in August and the Wine Fair in November, marking the early highlight of Worms' wine culture for the year. It attracts a discerning, wine-loving audience that appreciates the combination of historical scenery, high-quality wine, and gastronomic excellence.
