2026
About Wunstock
Wunstock — edition 2026
The 34th edition of the Wunstock Festival remains true to its founding principles: volunteer-run, non-commercial, with free entry and free camping. The organizer, Wunstock e.V., has released the 2026 lineup in several parts; a final slot for Saturday afternoon in the tent was still open at the time of the last update.
The festival takes place as always at the Burgermühlweiher festival grounds in Wunsiedel, in the Fichtelgebirge region of Upper Franconia. A large tent provides shelter from the weather, vegan and vegetarian food is available, and the grounds are accessible.

A DIY Classic Since 1992
The Wunstock Festival in Wunsiedel in the Fichtelgebirge (Upper Franconia, Bavaria) is one of Germany's oldest and most consistent DIY festivals. Founded in 1992 by Wunstock e.V., a volunteer association of around 50 members today, the festival has operated for over three decades on the same principles: no profit, no sponsors, no VIP areas. Free entry, free camping, financing exclusively through donations — the organizers estimate annual costs of around 17,000 Euros.
What Makes Wunstock Special
- Punk, Hardcore, Metal, Garage Rock, and experimental genres — all from the non-commercial scene
- Close ties to the Czech scene — many bands come from the Czech Republic and the wider former Czechoslovakia heritage scene
- Completely organized by volunteers from Wunstock e.V.
- Large tent provides shelter from the weather — the festival takes place in all weather conditions
- Vegan and vegetarian food at fair prices
- Accessible (level ground, accessible toilets)
- Right next door: Pump track and skate park
Wunsiedel and the Fichtelgebirge
Wunsiedel is the district town of the Wunsiedel im Fichtelgebirge district, in the extreme northeast of Bavaria, near the Czech border. The festival grounds at Burgermühlweiher offer a small, intimate festival atmosphere, nestled in the low mountain landscape of the Fichtelgebirge. The nearby youth hostel in Wunsiedel is a popular alternative to festival camping.
More Than a Weekend — A Community
Wunstock e.V. also organizes smaller concerts throughout the year and participates in local cultural initiatives in Wunsiedel. The volunteer structure and the donation principle make the festival a true counter-model to the commercial festival industry.
