Five Days of Lake Constance Wine Festival at the Ludwigshafen Waterfront
From Wednesday, June 3rd, to Sunday, June 7th, 2026, the Weinwiese will be held in Bodman-Ludwigshafen — one of the most beautiful wine events on Lake Constance. The venue is the Ludwigshafen waterfront directly by the water, with a view of the lake and the Lake Constance panorama. Several regional wineries — Schlosskellerei Bodman, Hangnauer Winzerverein, Staatsweingut Meersburg, Spitalkeller Konstanz, Weingut Aufricht, among others — will be serving their wines in a classic wine fair format.
The Lake Constance region is one of Germany's most traditional and at the same time smallest wine-growing areas. The participating wineries represent the full spectrum: Müller-Thurgau, the dominant white wine of Lake Constance today. Pinot Noir as the most important red wine. Alongside these are Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris, Riesling, Kerner, and occasionally specialties like Bacchus or Auxerrois. The calcareous soils, the mild Lake Constance climate, and the south-southwest exposure of many vineyards give the wines their special profile.
The musical program varies over the five festival days. Wednesday and Thursday are dominated by live bands and more relaxed DJ sets — a chilled start with wine and a view of the lake. Friday and Saturday, the wine lovers' mood picks up pace: danceable live acts and DJ sets get the festival meadow moving. Sunday is Family Day with a youth band, children's program, and a relaxed festival closing atmosphere.
Bodman-Ludwigshafen, with around 4,000 inhabitants, is a municipality in the district of Konstanz, located on the Überlinger See, the western arm of Lake Constance. The twin municipality was formed in 1975 from the independent towns of Bodman and Ludwigshafen. Bodman is the historically older part with Bodman Castle and the Schlosskellerei. Ludwigshafen is the younger port town, founded in 1826 as "Bodensee-Hafen" (Lake Constance Port) by King Ludwig I of Bavaria — hence the name. Today, the municipality is a popular tourist destination with a harbor, lidos, ship piers, and a range of festivals and events, including the Weinwiese.
The Ludwigshafen waterfront is located directly on the lake, with a view of the opposite shore (Sipplingen, Überlingen). The festival meadow is surrounded by old trees, and the breeze from the lake provides freshness even on hot days. The festival infrastructure — wooden stalls of the wineries, stage, seating, catering stands — is rebuilt every year. Standing on the festival grounds in the evening with the last light of Lake Constance behind you, you understand why the Weinwiese is considered one of the most beautiful Lake Constance events.
From Wednesday, June 3rd, to Sunday, June 7th, 2026, the Weinwiese will be held in Bodman-Ludwigshafen at the Ludwigshafen waterfront. Five festival days of Lake Constance wine in one of Southern Germany's most beautiful festival settings — directly by the lake, with a view of the opposite shore. Regional wineries will present their Lake Constance specialties, complemented by live bands, DJ sets, and a Family Sunday.
The festival format is a classic wine fair: each winery has its own stall, serves its wines directly, and is available for questions. A uniform wine glass is sold at the festival opening (deposit €6) and can be used at all stalls. This standardization greatly facilitates wine-tasting "wandering" between the wineries.
Free admission. Wine glass deposit €6 (refunded at the end of the festival or kept as a souvenir). Wine at usual wine festival prices (€2.50–€4 per glass per winery). Food at catering stands at usual festival prices.
By train: Ludwigshafen am Bodensee station, directly at the festival grounds. By boat: Ludwigshafen landing stage, BSB (Bodensee-Schiffsbetriebe) lines from Konstanz, Meersburg, Überlingen, Sipplingen. By car: A 81 exit Stockach, then B 31 to Ludwigshafen. Parking available on the outskirts of town with signage.
