Traditional harbour festival on the western Lake Constance — two days of music, market, and sea air
On the last weekend of June 2026, from June 27 to 28, the municipality of Bodman-Ludwigshafen invites you to the traditional Hafenfest on Lake Constance. The venue is the historic harbour area around the former Zollhaus (customs house) in Ludwigshafen — one of Lake Constance's most beautiful harbour panoramas, framed by the Bodanrück and the wide expanse of the Überlinger See.
The Hafenfest combines three classic elements of a Lake Constance Volksfest (popular festival):
Between the stages and markets, you'll find catering stalls run by Ludwigshafen's clubs — fire brigade, sports club, music club, parish — each offering their own specialities, from Lake Constance whitefish to bratwurst and sweet classics.
The municipality of Bodman-Ludwigshafen is located at the westernmost point of the Überlinger See, an arm of Lake Constance, in the district of Konstanz. It consists of the districts of Bodman (on the north shore) and Ludwigshafen (on the south shore) — connected by a short ferry service. For centuries, Ludwigshafen was an important loading and trading port for traffic between southwestern Germany and Lake Constance. The historic Zollhaus still reminds us of this function today.
Behind the festival grounds rises the Bodanrück — a wooded peninsula between the Überlinger See and the Untersee — known for its hiking and cycling trails. In front of the festival grounds, the view opens up to the Überlinger See, with sights extending to Mainau Island, the Marienschlucht gorge, and the Birnau pilgrimage church. This spectacular location makes the Hafenfest one of the most photogenic festivals on Lake Constance.
Harbour festivals have a long history on Lake Constance — when the region largely lived from shipping, fishing, and trade, the harbours were the social centres of the communities. Today, smaller towns like Ludwigshafen maintain this tradition with annual festivals that keep the connection to the lake alive and offer tourists and locals a relaxed, authentic summer moment by the water.
On the last weekend of June 2026, the municipality of Bodman-Ludwigshafen invites you to the traditional harbour festival on the Lake Constance promenade. Two days of programme around the historic customs house with music, a night market, and a regional market.
Local clubs, musicians, cover bands, and artisans are the focus. The maritime location at the transition from the Überlinger See to the hinterland of the Bodanrück makes the festival one of the most atmospheric smaller Lake Constance festivals of the season.
Free admission. Food and drinks at usual festival prices.
By train (recommended): Ludwigshafen am Bodensee station (Seehas Engen–Konstanz), station directly at the festival grounds. By car: B33 exit Ludwigshafen. Caution: Parking severely restricted on festival days — train travel strongly recommended, train and bus tickets at bwegt.de.
Free admission to all stages and markets.
Combine your festival visit with a boat trip across the Überlinger See (BSB lines stop in Ludwigshafen) or a hike on the Lake Constance Circular Trail. Overnight stays in Bodman, Sipplingen, or Überlingen recommended.
