Three days of Franconian wine on the historic market square
Eibelstadt is located on the right bank of the Main River, about ten kilometers south of Würzburg in the district of Würzburg, right in the middle of the Franconian wine country. The vineyards of Eibelstädter Mönchsleite and Kapellenberg are among the oldest in the region. For over five decades, 1. FC Eibelstadt has hosted its wine festival on the historic market square, making it one of the most traditional club festivals in the Würzburg area.
The market square, with its 16th-century town hall and surrounding burgher houses, forms one of the most beautiful open-air settings in Mainfranken. For three days, the historic center transforms into an open-air wine tavern. Long rows of tables, fairy lights, and the characteristic Bocksbeutel (a distinctive wine bottle shape) on every table create a Franconian summer evening atmosphere that is equally appreciated by locals and day-trippers from Würzburg.
The Eibelstadt vintners pour Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, and Domina from the current vintage. 1. FC Eibelstadt serves classic festival specialties: bratwurst, 'Schäufele' (pork shoulder), cheese platters, and of course, fresh pretzels. The proceeds from the wine festival go towards the youth work of the sports club, an important pillar of Eibelstadt's community life.
Unlike the large commercial wine festivals in the region, the Eibelstadt wine festival is run entirely by volunteers from the club members. This down-to-earth approach is its charm: no stage with pop stars, no admission fees, but genuine Franconian conviviality and wines from the immediate neighborhood. If you want to experience authentic Mainfranken, this is the place to be.
From Saturday, June 13th, to Monday, June 15th, 2026, 1. FC Eibelstadt invites you to the 52nd wine festival on the historic market square. Silvaner, Müller-Thurgau, Bacchus, and Domina from Eibelstadt vineyards will be served, along with traditional Franconian dishes from the club's stand.
The market square, with its town hall and half-timbered houses, provides the backdrop for three days of conviviality. The festival is organized voluntarily by 1. FC Eibelstadt, with proceeds benefiting the club's youth department.
The detailed program will be announced a few weeks before the festival on the club's website and via the municipality of Eibelstadt.
