Wine festival on Moltkemarkt in Lichterfelde West
Ludwig-Beck-Platz in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district is nicknamed Moltkemarkt — neighbors from the surrounding villa streets of Lichterfelde already gather here for the weekly market. Family & Friends e.V., the association behind numerous Berlin wine and art markets, transforms the square into a small wine village twice a year: once in late spring, once in early autumn.
Typically, five to six winegrowers serve their wines at the Weinbrunnen. Wineries from the classic German growing regions of Mosel, Pfalz, Rheinhessen, and Nahe are represented, along with rotating guests from Italy (often South Tyrol, Friuli, Tuscany) and Austria (Wachau, Burgenland). The atmosphere is not like a trade fair, but personal: you speak directly with winegrowers and their representatives, who rarely appear in Berlin.
Wine is accompanied by the extras: Flammkuchen from a wood-fired oven, Käsespätzle, grilled sausages, and farmer's bread with ham. A small stage provides live music — mostly acoustic, often blues and singer-songwriters from the south of Berlin. Arts and crafts and plant stalls round off the weekend.
The association was founded by residents from Charlottenburg-Westend and now organizes markets in several districts — from wine festivals in Lichtenrade and wine festivals at Bolivarallee to Advent markets in Westend. The Weinbrunnen am Ludwig-Beck-Platz is part of this series and, for many residents of Lichterfelde, a fixed part of the Berlin summer.
The 2026 spring wine festival at Ludwig-Beck-Platz is the annual season opener for Family & Friends e.V. For three days in May, the square transforms into a small wine garden under the trees. Between five and seven winegrowers are usually present.
A second edition is planned for September 4–6, 2026 — same location, same atmosphere, then featuring early Federweißer (new wine) and Zwiebelkuchen (onion tart). The exact lineup of winegrowers for both dates will be published on the association's website a few weeks before the event.
The detailed program for 2026 will be published closer to the date on family-and-friends-ev.de. Expected are:
