Three-day wine festival by the idyllic Lichtenrade village pond in southern Berlin
In the far south of Berlin — bordering Brandenburg's Mahlow — lies the district of Lichtenrade. With its 650-year-old village center around Hermann-Wundrich-Platz and the Dorfteich (village pond), Lichtenrade is one of the few Berlin districts that clearly grew organically as a village. For over 35 years, this very setting has provided the backdrop for one of Berlin's most pleasant wine festivals: the Wein- und Winzerfest Lichtenrade.
The German Wine Princess Katharina Gräff will open the Wein- und Winzerfest on Friday with a tour of the stalls — a lovely tradition that gives the event an official start.
The 2026 edition coincides with the district's 650th birthday — the program is accordingly expanded with historical reenactments. Lichtenrade was first mentioned in a document in 1376; the Lichtenrade village pond is one of Berlin's oldest surviving village pond ensembles.
Unlike many commercial wine festivals, the Lichtenrade format is free of charge. Residents from Lichtenrade, Mariendorf, and Marienfelde mingle with Berliners from other districts who come for the special atmosphere. One of the most beautiful addresses in Berlin for a relaxed late-summer wine festival evening by the water.
The 39th edition in 2026 coincides with Lichtenrade's 650th birthday — and the program is accordingly expanded. Organizers Aktionsgemeinschaft Bahnhofstraße e.V. and Family & Friends e.V. will open on Friday at 3 PM with German Wine Princess Katharina Gräff, who will lead a tour of the stalls to start. The Höfische Gesellschaft Lichtenrade will also perform medieval reenactments in historical costumes.
