Traditional district folk festival of the outer settlement in southern Berlin since the 1930s
Marienfelde is one of the Berlin districts where the GDR past and Berlin's pre-war history are particularly visible – through the former Marienfelde reception center, which was the initial reception point for GDR resettlers for decades, and through the residential settlement founded in 1930 on the outskirts in the south of the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district. The Siedlerfest Marienfelde has been the annual gathering of the outer settlement since the 1930s – celebrated on the festival grounds at Reinstedter Weg, corner of Meisdorfer Pfad. The 92nd edition in 2026 thus dates back to the pre-war era.
From August 21 to 23, 2026, the festival runs for three days:
Behind the festival is the Siedlergemeinschaft Stadtrandsiedlung Marienfelde II/III e.V. – the traditional neighborhood association of the residential settlement. For years, the operational execution has been handled by Wollenschlaeger Event GmbH, a Berlin-based showman company experienced in organizing folk festivals and medieval markets. This combination of genuine neighborhood anchoring and professional event logistics defines the character of the festival – not a mega folk festival, but a classic district festival with real local ties.
The program follows the proven Berlin folk festival dramaturgy: fairground rides (carousels, children's roller coaster, smaller adrenaline rides for older children and adults), snack stands with Bratwurst, fries, crêpes, sweets, and drinks, a stage with a daily changing program of Schlager, rock covers, and DJ sets, plus hands-on activities for children. The Weißwurst breakfast on Sunday is a Marienfelde trademark – a Bavarian tradition rarely celebrated in Berlin, thus gaining even more charm.
The 92nd edition continues the proven three-day format: Friday kickoff with Schlager party, Saturday as the main operating day with major live concerts by confirmed bands She's The Boss and Volxroxx, Sunday as family day with the Weißwurst breakfast highlight. The festival's tradition dates back to the founding of the Marienfelde outer settlement in the 1930s – a continuity rare in Berlin that makes the festival a testament to neighborhood festival culture.
