When the Volksparkstadion Mariendorf becomes the stage for young Berlin bands and a playground for families on the first weekend of July, the traditional Spielfest Mariendorf runs parallel to ROCKTREFF – one of Berlin's oldest youth band festivals. Organizers are the Tempelhof-Schöneberg Youth Welfare Office and the association CPYE e.V. Two days, from 12 PM to 6 PM each day, with craft stations, sports activities, interactive games for children and families. Free admission. The 2026 edition takes place on July 4th and 5th.

Spielfest Mariendorf — edition 2026

On Saturday, July 4th, and Sunday, July 5th, 2026, Spielfest Mariendorf invites you to the Volksparkstadion. Both days from 12 PM to 6 PM, with craft stations, sports activities, hands-on games, and interactive movement stations for children and families. Parallel on the main stage: ROCKTREFF with 16 young Berlin bands throughout the weekend. Free admission.

The 2026 edition brings the usual double format: Spielfest and ROCKTREFF under one weekend roof at Volksparkstadion Mariendorf. For families, this is an almost ideal summer weekend – children play, craft, and let off steam, while parents and siblings experience the live performances of young Berlin bands in parallel.

The Spielfest itself is curated by CPYE e.V. together with the Tempelhof-Schöneberg Youth Welfare Office. The stations are spread across the stadium's outdoor area and cater to different age groups. From kindergarten children to teenagers, every age group will find activities that invite participation.

Getting There

Volksparkstadion Mariendorf, Prühßstraße 90, 12109 Berlin (Tempelhof-Schöneberg district, Mariendorf locality). U-Bahn U6 Alt-Mariendorf or U6 Westphalweg (approx. 10–15 min. walk). Bus 181, M76, 179, 277, X76, M77, 282 in the vicinity. Parking in the neighborhood is very limited – public transport is strongly recommended.

Completely free admission to the Spielfest. ROCKTREFF (parallel on the main stage) is also open-air and free. Food trucks and snack stands on site, consumption payable.

Volksparkstadion Mariendorf

The Volksparkstadion Mariendorf on Prühßstraße is a traditional sports and event venue in the Tempelhof-Schöneberg district. In summer, the area is used several times a year for open events – Spielfest and ROCKTREFF are among the oldest Berlin summer formats and have been held on the same weekend for years.

Spielfest and ROCKTREFF – two festivals in one place

The concept is clever: While young Berlin bands (16 live acts over two days) perform on the stadium's main stage as part of ROCKTREFF, the Spielfest takes place on an adjacent area. This offers families a double program: children play, craft, and let off steam, while parents and siblings listen to live music from Berlin's upcoming rock and pop scene.

Family Festival Format

The Spielfest is clearly designed as a children's and family festival. Several stations are spread across the grounds: craft activities (from woodworking to creative painting stations), sports activities (football, table football, movement stations), interactive games, and hands-on activities for different age groups. The program is curated by the association CPYE e.V. together with the Tempelhof-Schöneberg Youth Welfare Office.
