Magic, concerts, and circus for the whole family at the ufaFabrik in Tempelhof
Since the late 1970s, the ufaFabrik has been one of Berlin's most renowned independent and cultural centers. On a former film copying plant site of Universum-Film AG on Viktoriastraße in Berlin-Tempelhof, it now combines theater, a circus school, a concert stage, an animal farm, an organic bakery, and pioneering ecological technology. For the Bunte Tüte, this area is opened up entirely for families on a Saturday in May.
As the name suggests, the festival offers a "colorful bag" (bunte Tüte) full of surprises. Magic shows, concerts for children, captivating circus acts from the in-house ufa circus school, comedy and improv performances, and hands-on workshops are spread across several stages. Small stages become mini concert halls, and larger outdoor areas transform into picnic lawns.
Unlike traditional family days, Bunte Tüte is highly participatory. Children become active participants – at the DIY magician's stand, in the acrobatics workshop, in the pottery area, or while making bracelets. Adults accompany them but are also welcome to watch, grab a coffee at the organic bakery, and explore the grounds at their leisure.
With Bunte Tüte, the ufaFabrik continues its tradition as a pioneering site for ecological and social urban culture in a family-friendly format. The festival is part of Berlin's growing family festival scene and makes the Tempelhof grounds a destination worth visiting even without children – simply to experience the spirit of the ufaFabrik.
The Bunte Tüte 2026 opens its doors on Saturday, May 23, 2026, from 12 PM. The venue is the 18,500 square meter grounds of the ufaFabrik at Viktoriastraße 10-18, 12105 Berlin (Tempelhof district, Tempelhof-Schöneberg borough).
The family festival combines concerts, magic and circus performances, and hands-on workshops on several stages – "a colorful mix of exciting magic shows, rousing concerts, and breathtaking circus acts," as the visitBerlin description summarizes it. The complete daily program will be published by the ufaFabrik on their website.
