Nacht der Gitarren — edition 2026
The Berlin edition of the anniversary tour features a contrasting quartet: Minnie Marks (Slide-Folk, Australia), Roxane Elfasci (Classical/Flamenco, France), Niwel Tsumbu (Congolese Rumba), André Cavalcante (Choro/Bossa, Brazil). Solo, duo, and quartet formats alternate on stage - the intersection of styles is the program's principle.

What is the "Nacht der Gitarren"?
The "Nacht der Gitarren" is an annual touring concert format that has been bringing a new quartet of international acoustic guitarists through German and European cities since 2016. The concept: four musicians from four different continents or styles, alternating solo, duo, and quartet performances on stage. The tour showcases the diverse interpretations of the acoustic guitar worldwide - from folk-slide and classical flamenco to Bossa Nova and African fingerpicking polyrhythms. In 2026, the format celebrates its 10th anniversary with a particularly contrasting lineup.
The Four Guitarists in 2026
The anniversary quartet brings together four very different schools:
- Minnie Marks (Australia) - Slide guitar, folk, country-blues; known for her energetic, almost rocky solo style with a resonator guitar.
- Roxane Elfasci (France) - classical and flamenco guitar, one of the younger stars of the French flamenco scene; works between Paris and Andalusia.
- Niwel Tsumbu (Congo / Ireland) - Congolese rumba and soukous tradition, with sub-Saharan polyrhythms and West African influences.
- André Cavalcante (Brazil) - Choro and Bossa Nova tradition; Brazilian seven-string specialist, continuing the Sambiquera school.
Concept of the Evening
On the ufaFabrik stage, the four artists alternate: first each solo, then unexpected duo combinations (slide meets flamenco, choro meets soukous), culminating in a joint quartet finale. Between pieces, there are anecdotes about the instruments, the travels, and the musical intersections. The ufaFabrik theater hall offers unusually good acoustics for unamplified guitar - the format works with minimal PA, almost like a chamber concert.
The ufaFabrik in Southern Tempelhof
The ufaFabrik on Viktoriastraße in the Tempelhof district (Tempelhof-Schöneberg borough) is a former UFA film copying plant occupied in 1979 - today a self-managed cultural center with a theater hall, open-air stage, children's circus, café, farm, and apartments. It has been a regular venue for acoustic music, world music, dance, and performance for decades. The "Nacht der Gitarren" fits perfectly into the venue's profile - the tour comes to Berlin every year to the theater hall.
