A Green Isle in Berlin-Tempelhof

Since the 1970s, the ufaFabrik at Viktoriastraße 10–18 has been one of Berlin's most important alternative cultural centres — a former UFA film site, now an international cultural centre with theatres, a summer stage, an organic bakery, and a children's farm. Located in the Tempelhof district, it is accessible via the Ullsteinstraße underground station (U6). Once a year, the grounds become a 'Green Isle' — for the Irish Festival Berlin, which, with its 9th edition in 2026, has become a fixture for the Irish diaspora and the Berlin folk community.

Music, Dance, and Pub Culture

The festival takes place outdoors on the ufaFabrik's summer stage. Bands and solo artists from Ireland, Great Britain, and Berlin's Irish diaspora perform on stage — playing traditional, folk, indie-folk, and crossover projects. In parallel, there are dance workshops for beginners and advanced dancers (Set Dancing, Céilí, Irish Dance), whiskey and gin tastings, a small pub bar with Guinness and Murphy's, as well as stalls run by Irish craftspeople and booksellers.

Community Gathering for Berlin's Irish Community

Berlin has a small but active Irish diaspora — from musicians living in the city and consulate staff to numerous students. The Irish Festival is their main annual meeting point: joint sessions, new acquaintances, and family activities for parents and children. Many non-Irish Berliners who appreciate the folk scene are also part of the regular audience.
