Family harbour festival with live music and fireworks on the Teltowkanal
The Tempelhofer Hafen is one of the few places in Berlin where city and water meet directly — a former industrial harbour on the Teltowkanal, today a mix of residential, retail, and promenade. For three days in May, the district becomes a festival ground: two stages, an open-air dance floor, street food stalls along the quay, and on Saturday evening, fireworks over the water.
The Tempelhofer Hafen is located in the Tempelhof district, Tempelhof-Schöneberg borough, just under three kilometres as the crow flies from Tempelhofer Feld (the former airport site). Those who visit the harbour festival typically combine it with a walk along the Teltowkanal, a stroll on Tempelhofer Feld, or a detour to the Ufa-Fabrik site. The district is not among the classic tourist destinations — and that's exactly what makes the harbour festival special: a Volksfest (popular festival) attended mostly by Berliners and not by visitors to Berlin.
The Hafenfest is considered one of Berlin's most family-friendly neighbourhood festivals. The harbour edge is level and accessible, the paths in the district are asphalted, and dogs on a lead are allowed. The children's programme runs all day, and the fireworks on Saturday evening are timed (11 PM) so that small children can either see them before bedtime or are already at home.
The official 2026 edition runs from Friday, May 29, 2:00 PM to Sunday, May 31, 6:00 PM at Tempelhofer Hafen, Tempelhofer Damm 227, 12099 Berlin (Tempelhof district, Tempelhof-Schöneberg borough).
The event is organised by Tempelhofer Hafen Berlin itself (shopping and district management). Admission to the Hafenfest is completely free; the two stages, children's programme, and fireworks can be enjoyed without a ticket.
