DIY by the Lake
The Wasted Open Air is a deliberately small, non-commercial DIY festival right on Obernzenner See in the municipality of Obernzenn. Since its first edition in 2018 (with editions in 2018, 2019, and 2022–2025), it has earned a reputation in the Stoner and Punk Rock scene as a family-friendly, community-driven festival — swimming, campfires, and loud music are inextricably linked.
Ethos and Concept
The organizer is Turbojugend Schlachthaus e.V. The festival emphasizes open, respectful coexistence, is explicitly anti-racist, and "for everyone." The number of tickets is deliberately kept very limited to preserve the intimate, non-commercial character.
Musical Profile
The program features Stoner Rock, Punk Rock, Desert Rock, and related styles. The lineups bring together international and German acts from the DIY and underground scene.
Obernzenn
Obernzenn is located in the Neustadt an der Aisch-Bad Windsheim district in Middle Franconia. The Obernzenner See on Urphertshofer Straße forms the natural backdrop for the festival — a gravel pit lake that makes the festival a summer open-air event with swimming facilities.
