Free electronic open-air on Labour Day at the Hahnweide parking lot
The Hahnweide near Kirchheim unter Teck is one of Germany's best-known gliding airfields – since 1955, gliders and motor planes have taken off and landed here with a view of the Swabian Jura and Hohenstaufen. Exactly this site, more precisely the large parking lot, becomes an open-air floor once a year: On May 1st, 2026, the 2nd edition of the VOTRE Hahnweide Open Air will take place – a day of electronic music under the open sky, with the Swabian Jura as a backdrop.
The idea behind VOTRE is simple: a free open-air event on Labour Day, accessible to everyone, family-friendly, with good electronic music. While other festivals sell tickets in advance, you can simply come to Hahnweide – barrier-free access, children welcome, bouncy castle on site. For the DJs, it's a playground; for the city of Kirchheim, it's a well-attended Labour Day meeting point.
Several electronic DJs from the region and southern Germany will play for over twelve hours – the exact order will be announced shortly before the date on the organizers' channels. The mix of House and melodic Techno in the morning and early afternoon, slightly harder Techno and Trance sets from the late afternoon onwards, and a more relaxed sundowner set to conclude the day at 10 PM has proven successful. The sound system setup is standard for open-air events, ensuring that the neighbourhood around the airfield is not disturbed.
At the food stalls, you'll find freshly tapped beer, Pinsa (Roman-style pizza), Bratwurst, sausage salad, and fries. For the youngest attendees, there's a bouncy castle, and for those who want to leave with a memento, there's a tattoo stand. The atmosphere is family-friendly, with a clear view of the Swabian Jura – not an overly organized festival camp, but a relaxed day in the countryside with beats.
Kirchheim unter Teck is located in the Esslingen district of Baden-Württemberg, at the foot of the Swabian Jura. The Hahnweide gliding airfield is accessible via Klaus-Holighaus-Straße – named after the legendary glider designer. By car, take the B 297 or the A 8 exit Kirchheim-West.
