Over 50 years of tradition — Blossom and Wine Festival on the Moselle with the crowning of the Blossom Queen
The Gülser Blütenfest, or Blossom and Wine Festival Koblenz-Güls, is one of the most well-known spring events on the lower Moselle. The organizers are the Heimatfreunde Güls e.V., who have been organizing the festival voluntarily for over five decades.
Koblenz-Güls is a district in the west of Koblenz, located directly on the Moselle. Güls is famous for its vineyard sites and the picturesque Moselle landscape. The Gülser Plan, a central square in the district, is the venue for the festival and forms a perfect backdrop with views of the Moselle vineyards.
The festival originates from the spring blossoms of the vineyards and orchards on the Moselle and was initiated more than 50 years ago by the Heimatfreunde. The Blossom Queen is a central figure of the festival and is chosen each year from the young women of the district. Her crowning on the opening evening is the festive highlight of the first day of the festival.
The festival spans four days with various focal points: Opening with the crowning on Thursday evening, Maypole raising on Friday, a grand festival weekend on Saturday and Sunday with live music, wine stands, Frühschoppen (morning pint), and a children's program. On Sunday, the wine stands open at 11 a.m., and the Güls/Lay Music Association plays its traditional concert.
Wine stands offer wines from local vintners from the districts of Ehrenbreitstein, Güls, Lay, and Moselweiß — a rare opportunity to explore Moselle wine culture in a compact area.
The 2026 edition is classically spread over four days. A detailed program and music schedule will be published by the Heimatfreunde Güls in early April on heimatfreunde-guels.de/bluetenfest.
