Two Festival Days: Walpurgis and May Day

The Maibaum erection will take place later in the evening with muscle power and a lever.

Return After a Break
The Maibaumfest Stuttgart-Vaihingen had a creative pause — it did not take place in 2025. With the Heimatring Stuttgart-Vaihingen taking over the organization, the festival returns to the Rathausplatz in 2026. The Heimatring, which coordinates the local club scene, is organizing the festival in this form for the first time — supported by the traditional Schwarze Husaren Vaihingen (carnival club) and the Jugendclub Rohr.
Walpurgis Night — DJ Jalmar Spins
The kickoff is on Thursday evening, April 30, 2026, starting at 4 PM, with Walpurgis Night and the Maibaum erection on the Rathausplatz. Classic Rock DJ Jalmar will play classic hits from rock, pop, and Schlager — a format that appeals to younger and older generations alike. The Maibaum erection is traditionally done with muscle power and a lever.
May 1 — May Celebration with Big Band
On May Day, May 1, 2026, starting at 11 AM, the Musikverein Vaihingen/Rohr, with its Big Band and Youth Big Band, will take over the musical program. Classics from the Big Band repertoire, from Glenn Miller to Frank Sinatra, complemented by current pop and rock arrangements, will shape the May Day celebration. The Youth Big Band showcases the music club's young talent — a generational change on stage.
Culinary Offerings
Grilled items (Bratwurst, chicken legs, steaks from the charcoal grill) and "Rolands Maultaschen" — a local specialty — form the culinary core of the festival. Swabian Maultaschen with melted butter, Maultaschen in broth, bread-Maultaschen variations. Served with Württemberg wines, draft beer, and non-alcoholic options.
Until 11:30 PM on May 1
The festival runs on May 1 until approximately 11:30 PM. It thus combines the classic May Day holiday (morning/afternoon) with the May Day evening, where generations meet and celebrate together.
Stuttgart-Vaihingen — Well Connected
The Stuttgart-Vaihingen district is located in the south of Stuttgart with approximately 45,000 inhabitants. The S-Bahn connection to Stuttgart city center (S1, S2, S3) is excellent, as is its location in the Filderraum. The Rathausplatz with the Vaihingen Town Hall is the central point of the district and an ideal festival location.
