Eleven days of tradition and conviviality in the Upper Bavarian Volksfest calendar
The Volksfest Ebersberg is one of the most popular folk festivals in Upper Bavaria and is considered one of the most peaceful and convivial folk festivals in Bavaria. For eleven days, the festival grounds on Attenberger-Schillinger-Straße are transformed into a meeting place for families, clubs, and guests from the entire Ebersberg district.
The centerpiece is the large festival tent with traditional music, beer tent atmosphere, and Bavarian delicacies. The festival hosts Florian and Michael Ebenkofler are responsible for the catering, and the Volksfestverein Ebersberg, chaired by Sepp Riedl, for everything else. Those who want a guaranteed seat can reserve tables online.
Traditionally, the opening is marked by the tapping of the first keg "O'zapft is" after a traditional concert by the Stadtkapelle Ebersberg, the Spielmannszug, and the Glonner Musi at Marienplatz, followed by a parade to the festival grounds. Throughout the festival days, events include the Schafkopf championship, an ecumenical church service with Frühschoppen, Seniors' Day, a children's festival with games and a large raffle, and a flea market. A musical fireworks display is one of the highlights.
Around the festival tent, numerous amusement rides, carousels, shooting galleries, lottery stalls, and classic folk festival food stalls invite visitors to linger – from family carousels to thrilling rides for teenagers.
The folk festival is firmly anchored in the annual calendar of the district town of Ebersberg and brings people from the region together. Its calm, family-friendly atmosphere distinguishes it from larger Bavarian folk festivals, making it a hidden gem in the Munich metropolitan area.
