Three-day town festival in the heart of Hallertau – Beer Street, stages, and breweries
The Mainburg Old Town Festival is a three-day summer event in the center of the Lower Bavarian district town of Mainburg, right in the middle of the Hallertau growing region – the largest contiguous hop-growing area in the world. The festival is organized by the town of Mainburg in cooperation with local clubs and restaurateurs. The central axis of the festival is the famous Bierstraße (Beer Street), where regional breweries from Hallertau and the hop-growing region have their own stands.
For three days, live bands, cover bands, and DJs perform on several stages around the market square and in the old town alleys. The Bierstraße features regional breweries, including several Hallertau family breweries, serving beer made with the characteristic Hallertau aroma hops. Food stalls run by Mainburg clubs, as well as restaurants and snack bars from the town center, offer a wide culinary selection. A children's program during the day complements the festival offerings with hands-on activities and games.
In 2026, the Old Town Festival runs from Friday, July 24th, starting in the evening, until Sunday, July 26th, late in the evening. In previous years, the Bierstraße has kept the following opening hours: Friday 6–11 PM, Saturday 4 PM–12 AM, Sunday 3–9 PM. The full stage program will be published shortly before the festival on the town's event page.
