About Vatertagsparty Asberg

The Vatertagsparty Moers-Asberg is the new Father's Day event in the south of Moers. On Thursday, May 14, 2026 (Ascension Day), from 11:00 AM, fathers, daughters, sons, mothers, and friends will celebrate together in Sportpark Asberg, right in the heart of the Asberg community. This is the second edition after the successful premiere in 2025 — the demand for a regular Father's Day festival in southern Moers was high. The program features DJ sets by DJ Domic and DJ Rene Kaffee, marquee atmosphere, snacks, beer, and a family program. Organizers are the event caterers Zajuntz and Aberfeld Gastro, in cooperation with Asberger Bürgerschaft e.V. Free admission.

Father's Day in the South of Moers — the new tradition

Father's Day — often referred to as Männertag (Men's Day) or Herrentag (Gentlemen's Day) in North Rhine-Westphalia — is one of the most important private celebration days of the year. Traditionally, it's celebrated with a group outing, often with a handcart (Bollerwagen) filled with beer and snacks. In the southern Moers district of Asberg, the Vatertagsparty has offered an attractive, fixed alternative since 2025: a central neighbourhood open-air festival attended by families, Father's Day groups, and those joining after other tours. The 2026 edition is the second — following the successful premiere in 2025.

Thursday, May 14, 2026 — Ascension Day

The Vatertagsparty 2026 takes place on Thursday, May 14, 2026 — the public holiday of Ascension Day, which is traditionally considered "Father's Day" in Germany. It starts at 11:00 AM — typical for Father's Day events: a morning start, with continuous atmosphere until late in the evening. The festival grounds are the Sportpark Asberg, a central sports facility in the district, well-suited for family events.

DJ Domic and DJ Rene Kaffee — the musical program

Two DJs are responsible for the music for the day:

  • DJ Domic — known from the Lower Rhine event scene with a wide range of charts and party hits
  • DJ Rene Kaffee — the second resident DJ with a mix of 90s/2000s classics and current hits

The sound mix is aimed at the classic Father's Day crowd: singalong songs, German Schlager, hits from the 80s to today, shifting to a more party format later in the day. If you associate Father's Day with handcarts, cold beer, and singalong songs, this is the place to be.

Marquee, Snacks, and Family Program

A marquee is set up in Sportpark Asberg, along with food stalls offering classic Father's Day fare: Bratwurst, Currywurst, fries, Schaschlik, burgers. Drinks include draft beer (Pils, Alt, Kölsch), cocktails, soft drinks, and coffee. For families, there's a children's program: bouncy castle, face painting, games — many men come with their daughters and sons, and the handcart myth is lived out across generations.

Asberger Bürgerschaft — the Neighbourhood Organizers

The organizers are two local catering companies (Veranstaltungsgastronomie Zajuntz and Aberfeld Gastro) in cooperation with Asberger Bürgerschaft e.V. — the neighbourhood association that organizes the Asberg community. This neighbourhood festival character is the strength of the format: not commercially inflated, but rooted in the district, with local providers and a touch of community club charm.

Moers-Asberg — District on the Lower Rhine

Asberg is a southern district of the city of Moers, in the Wesel district on the Lower Rhine. With just under 8,000 inhabitants, Asberg is a classic suburban district, with a sports park, schools, a parish, and active club life. The Asberger Bürgerschaft organizes several neighbourhood events annually — the Vatertagsparty is the newest addition to this festival calendar and is expected to grow in the coming years.

Lower Rhine — Father's Day Culture

On the Lower Rhine, Father's Day has a particularly intense folk culture: handcart tours along the Rhine, club outings, men's hikes to brewery tours. The Vatertagsparty Asberg offers a modern, district-based alternative to the classic tour — without the handcart, but with DJ atmosphere. The format is ideal for Father's Day groups looking for a fixed endpoint after their tour.
