Schelpmeier und die Plögerette — The Summer Kick-off
Schelpmeier is a German-language singer-songwriter who cultivates a band project character with Die Plögerette. The songs combine local color, classic songwriter tradition, and humorous storytelling — a perfect program for a relaxed summer open-air atmosphere in one of Ostwestfalen-Lippe's oldest Hanseatic cities.
Marktplatz Lemgo — Stage with History
Lemgo's market square is one of Ostwestfalen's most impressive urban ensembles:
- The late Gothic town hall from the 16th century with characteristic bay windows and turrets
- The Hexenbürgermeisterhaus (Witch Mayor's House) — now a museum, formerly the residence of Lemgo Mayor Hermann Cothmann (1629–1683), notorious for his harsh actions during the witch trials
- Richly decorated burgher houses from the Renaissance and Baroque periods
- In the center: the established market fountain
The concerts in front of this backdrop have a special atmosphere — far from any anonymous concert arena.
Lemgo — Hanseatic City in Lipperland
The city of Lemgo (around 41,000 inhabitants) is located in the Lippe district in Ostwestfalen-Lippe (North Rhine-Westphalia). It is one of the best-preserved Hanseatic cities of the Weser Uplands, with a historic old town, Junkerhaus, Schloss Brake, and a rich club and cultural landscape. Famous landmarks: the Hexenbürgermeisterhaus as a critical memorial museum to the witch hunts, and the Engelbert-Kaempfer-Gesellschaft, which preserves the legacy of the Lemgo naturalist Engelbert Kaempfer (1651–1716). Marktplatz Live is the musical summer format of this culturally rich city.
