The Uckermark Music Weeks — A Festival Without a City Focus

The Uckermark Music Weeks have existed since 1992 and are one of the most conceptually consistent festivals for early music in Brandenburg. Deliberately without a fixed festival location, the festival moves from village church to manor house, from barn to open-air stage, always featuring top-class ensembles that seek out these unusual acoustic and atmospheric spaces. A concert in a medieval fieldstone church sounds different from one in an urban concert hall — the Music Weeks make a principle of this.

Groß Fredenwalde — A District with Depth

Groß Fredenwalde is a district of the municipality of Gerswalde, located in the Uckermark district in the middle of the Uckermark Lakes Nature Park. The village church of Groß Fredenwalde — a typical medieval fieldstone and brick building — offers the ideal backdrop for a concert with historical instruments. The area itself has an archaeological claim to fame: excavations nearby documented Stone Age burials 8,000 years old — a place with a long tradition.

„Alles jauchzet, alles lacht" — Ensemble Arava

The concert program on August 16 is titled „Alles jauchzet, alles lacht" — a sacred vocal music production with Ensemble Arava. Vocal voices are accompanied by period instruments, and the program focuses on festive, jubilant works of the Baroque vocal tradition. The acoustic charm of a village church, the focus on a few voices and instruments, the rural context: this is Uckermark Music Weeks in its purest form.

Festival Framework 2026

The concert is part of the 2026 festival edition (August 1-23), which includes around 20 concerts at various venues in the Uckermark. New venues for 2026 are the Templin Hyperschale and Gutshaus Woltersdorf. Three concerts are planned as open-air events, weather permitting. Tickets via Reservix.
