33 Years of Uckermark Music Weeks

The Uckermark Music Weeks have been one of Northeast Brandenburg's most important classical music festivals since 1992. For three weeks in August, the festival presents more than 20 concerts in special locations in the Uckermark — historic churches, barns, stables, and manor houses. The concept: early music and more. From medieval music to Baroque and Classical periods, up to contemporary compositions, plus folklore and international styles. The 33rd season in 2026 runs from August 1 to 23, 2026.

The Concert in Fergitz — "A Guest in a Viennese Salon"

One of the special concerts in 2026 will take place on August 22, 2026, at 4 PM in Fergitz, a district of the municipality of Gerswalde. The program promises a musical journey into a 19th-century Viennese salon — chamber music from the Viennese Classical and Romantic periods, songs of longing, and elegant salon pieces. The acoustics of the venue in Fergitz (a small church or historic estate) offer the intimate atmosphere such a program requires.

The Uckermark — A World of Its Own

The Uckermark is one of Brandenburg's most sparsely populated, rural regions, in the far northeast on the border with Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Poland. It is famous for its clear water lakes, vast forests, old castles, and manor houses. Those who come in August for the Music Weeks season can ideally combine classical concerts with hiking, swimming in the Oberuckersee lake, or visiting the monastery ruins.

Gerswalde and Fergitz

Gerswalde is a small municipality in the Uckermark district, about 80 km north of Berlin. The district of Fergitz is a tiny village with a historic village church and an atmosphere that brings peace to Berlin city dwellers. The choice of Fergitz as a concert location is part of the Music Weeks' program: bringing classical music to the provinces without making it provincial. The concert, in the spirit of a Viennese salon, combines historical sound culture with a rural stage.
