Traditional costume and craftwork by Lake Schliersee
The Schliersee Traditional Costume and Craft Market is one of the most important craft markets in the Upper Bavarian Alpine foothills. On one weekend in September, Lautererstraße and Perfallstraße turn into a market street with around 65 exhibitor stalls. The focus is on traditional costume clothing, hat- and feltwork, leather goods, pottery, blacksmithing and regionally rooted crafts from the Alpine region.
Schliersee, in the district of Miesbach at the foot of the Bavarian Prealps, is one of the best-known destinations in Upper Bavaria. The setting with lake, mountain panorama and the historic village centre gives the market a special atmosphere — a market visit and a mountain-summer weekend can easily be combined. This is also why the market regularly attracts visitors from the greater Munich area, the Tegernsee valley and the Inn valley.
The market is run by Markt & Aktion Veranstaltungsservice from Mittenwald, which organises a whole series of comparable costume and craft markets across the southern Bavarian Alpine region. For data protection reasons, the organiser does not publish a public exhibitor list but answers enquiries directly.
On Sunday, the local Schliersee shops traditionally open too — the market thus becomes the anchor of a shopping Sunday that marks the change from summer to autumn season in the region. On site, food stalls with regional specialities round off the offering.
The 2026 edition runs on the weekend of 12 and 13 September 2026. The organiser is Markt & Aktion from Mittenwald. Around 65 exhibitor stalls along Lautererstraße and Perfallstraße offer traditional costume clothing, hats, leather goods, pottery and blacksmith work over two days. A shopping Sunday in the village centre rounds off the market.
The organiser provides the exact stall layout only on direct request for data protection reasons; no public exhibitor list is published.
By train: BRB Bayerische Regiobahn from Munich, Schliersee stop (5-minute walk to Lautererstraße). By car: A8, Weyarn exit, then B307. Parking in the signposted car parks at the edge of the village.
Free entry. Costs arise only for market purchases and catering.
