Costume and craft by the lake
The Schliersee Traditional Costume and Craft Market is one of the most important craft markets in the Upper Bavarian Alpine foothills. On one weekend in September, Lautererstraße and Perfallstraße turn into a market street with around 65 exhibitor stalls. The focus is on traditional costume clothing, hat- and feltwork, leather goods, pottery, blacksmithing and regionally rooted crafts from the Alpine region.
Schliersee as a setting
Schliersee, in the district of Miesbach at the foot of the Bavarian Prealps, is one of the best-known destinations in Upper Bavaria. The setting with lake, mountain panorama and the historic village centre gives the market a special atmosphere — a market visit and a mountain-summer weekend can easily be combined. This is also why the market regularly attracts visitors from the greater Munich area, the Tegernsee valley and the Inn valley.
Markt & Aktion as organiser
The market is run by Markt & Aktion Veranstaltungsservice from Mittenwald, which organises a whole series of comparable costume and craft markets across the southern Bavarian Alpine region. For data protection reasons, the organiser does not publish a public exhibitor list but answers enquiries directly.
A Sunday devoted to the market
On Sunday, the local Schliersee shops traditionally open too — the market thus becomes the anchor of a shopping Sunday that marks the change from summer to autumn season in the region. On site, food stalls with regional specialities round off the offering.
