The neighbourhood festival at Seepark in the Lichtenberg district of Karlshorst – for over 20 years
The Traberwegfest im Seepark Karlshorst has been the unifying neighbourhood festival on the southern edge of the Lichtenberg district since 2000. At Seepark, between Stechlinstraße and Traberweg, just a few steps from the trotting track, families, clubs, schools, and neighbourhood initiatives gather at the beginning of autumn for a two-day programme of music, hands-on activities, and a flea market. The festival is organised by the Familienzentrum Potpourri Karlshorster Kiezladen e.V. at Eginhardstraße 9, supported by volunteers and local partners.
The Traberwegfest doesn't focus on top acts or headliners. Its character lies in a mix of flea market finds, games, and small stage moments:
The festival takes place in the Karlshorst district, which belongs to Lichtenberg but is also frequented by people from Köpenick. Seepark itself is located near the former Soviet garrison and the current civilian trotting track. Karlshorst is considered one of Berlin's greenest residential areas – for one weekend, the Traberwegfest turns this quiet neighbourhood into a lively meeting place. It is not on the same date as the Beer Festival at the trotting track (mid-June); the Traberwegfest has a distinctly neighbourhood-family character and free admission.
For 2026, Saturday, September 19, has been announced as the festival day; Friday evening (September 18) will likely open again with a warm-up. Full programme and time details will be communicated by Familienzentrum Potpourri in late summer 2026.
On Saturday, September 19, 2026, Seepark Karlshorst will once again become the stage for the Traberwegfest. The Familienzentrum Potpourri promises a day full of hands-on activities for all generations for the new edition – with a flea market starting in the morning, a stage programme at midday, and activities such as building bee hotels, archery, and police bicycle coding in the afternoon. The event traditionally opens on Friday evening with a sing-along programme and Silent Disco.
The detailed programme will be published by Familienzentrum Potpourri in summer 2026. Based on previous years, the following programme blocks are expected:
