Over 100 beers and street food at Trabrennbahn Karlshorst
The venue for the Beer Festival is Trabrennbahn Karlshorst, one of Germany's oldest horse racing tracks, opened in 1894 and now part of the Berlin-Karlshorst Equestrian Park. The spacious grounds in the Lichtenberg district offer ample room for a three-day open-air event, with the grandstand and the track as a striking backdrop. Karlshorst is located in southeastern Berlin, easily accessible by S-Bahn and tram.
The festival brings together more than 100 different types of beer — from Berlin classics like Berliner Weisse, Berliner Pilsner, and Schultheiss to craft beer breweries from Germany, Austria, Belgium, the Czech Republic, and other countries. The selection of exhibitors changes from year to year; regularly represented are regional Berlin-Brandenburg breweries such as Schoppe Bräu, BRLO, and Berliner Berg. Those interested in tasting can get a first impression with the drink voucher, and further tastings are paid for on-site.
In parallel with the beer offerings, three stages will feature a colorful live music program — from cover bands and singer-songwriters to folk and rock 'n' roll. Food trucks and snack stands offer bratwurst, tarte flambée, burgers, vegetarian and vegan options, as well as international street food specialties. The concept focuses on a festival atmosphere for the whole family, not just a tasting fair.
With only €2 admission including a drink voucher, the Beer Festival is one of the most affordable open-air events in Berlin. Organizer Jüttner Entertainment, under the brand "Hauptstadtkultur," operates several similar Volksfest (traditional folk festival) formats in Berlin — from the Bölschestraße Advent market and the Beer Festival to other summer festivals. The concept clearly targets Berlin and Brandenburg families, not the tourist segment.
The Karlshorst district belongs to the Lichtenberg district in the east of Berlin and is primarily known for the history of the unconditional surrender of the Wehrmacht in 1945 — signed in the Karlshorst Pioneer School building. Today, the district is characterized by Wilhelminian-era villas, the equestrian park, and the Russian-German Museum. For a beer festival on the outskirts of the city, the area offers enough space and is still well connected to public transport.
The 2026 edition runs from Friday to Sunday — the classic summer weekend for an open-air festival in Berlin. It is open daily from 12 PM to 10 PM; the program on the three stages usually starts around 2 PM. The beer selection will be offered on-site at the brewery stands.
Three stages with live music (cover bands, singer-songwriters, rock, folk). The exact daily program will be published by the organizer in June on hauptstadtkultur.berlin.
