Aurich's Summer Festival Par Excellence
The Aurich City Festival has been the largest and most attended festival in the city for years. On one August weekend, the entire city center transforms into an open festival mile. Burgstraße, Norderstraße, Osterstraße, Lambertshof, and Georgswall form the axes of the festival grounds – with several stages, market stalls, food stands, and activity areas.
Friday: Opening with Beer Barrel Tapping
The kickoff is on Friday at 6 PM with the traditional beer barrel tapping by the mayor – a classic opening ritual of North German city festivals. From 8 PM, the first live concerts begin on the main stages. Bands from the region and nationally known cover bands provide the atmosphere late into the night.
Saturday: Family Day and Lounge
Saturday is more focused on families. A children's flea market takes place on Georgswall – children sell their outgrown toys and gain their first sales experience. A family mile offers activity stands, hands-on activities, and child-friendly entertainment. In the Lambertshof, the City Festival Lounge opens with an upscale gastronomic offering and a relaxed cocktail atmosphere.
Several Stages, Many Music Genres
The parallel stages allow for different musical focuses – Rock, Pop, Folk, Schlager, Acoustic. Those who don't want to miss a main act can plan their route through the city center along the stages. The concept makes the City Festival the perfect occasion for meeting friends and family from the entire region.

- Friday, August 14:
- 6:00 PM: ceremonial opening with beer barrel tapping by the mayor
- 8:00 PM: start of live acts on the three main stages
- 8 PM–Midnight: parallel concerts (rock cover band, pop/Schlager, acoustic)
- From Midnight: DJ sets in Lambertshof Lounge and bar locations
- Saturday, August 15:
- Morning: Children's flea market on Georgswall (setup from approx. 10 AM)
- Noon–Afternoon: Family mile with activity stations, face painting, stage program for the little ones
- Afternoon–Evening: expanded stage program on all main stages
- City Festival Lounge Lambertshof: continuous with upscale cocktail and specialty offerings
- Evening: concerts by headliner bands, dancing, and party until late at night

Getting There
Aurich is located on the A31 motorway. Parking in the city center is partially closed during the festival – follow the parking guidance system or use park-and-ride.
