A Festival for Potsdam's City Society

The “New Potsdam Tolerance Edict” is a declaration written in 2008 by citizens, in which Potsdam commits to an open, diverse, and solidary society. The association of the same name keeps this idea alive and organizes the family festival “Tolerance Moves Potsdam” every June as a visible sign of a city that actively stands against exclusion and racism.

Sports for Children and Adults

Sports form one of the most important pillars of the festival. SV Babelsberg 03 — the traditional club whose stadium is within sight of the festival grounds — offers sports activities for children and adults together with other clubs: mini-football fields, climbing and movement stations, dance activities, and a joint charity run where “every lap counts”.

Live Music, Shows, and Stage Program

On the main stage, the festival brings live music, dance groups, and show acts to the field. The program ranges from school choirs and dance groups from Potsdam's districts to regionally known bands. The musical diversity reflects the festival's purpose: Potsdam is a pluralistic city where different voices find their place.

Raffle, Charity Run, and Charitable Activities

A raffle with prizes from Potsdam businesses and initiatives, the charity run for regional projects, and hands-on stations from various social organizations clearly demonstrate the festival's solidarity character. Organizations such as Oberlinhaus and the medical technology company Christoph Miethke GmbH provide a broad civil society basis for the festival.

Babelsberg and the Sandscholle Sports Field Tradition

The Sandscholle sports field in Potsdam-Babelsberg is the natural stage for the festival: large enough for thousands of visitors, nestled between the stadium at Karl-Liebknecht-Sportpark and the residential areas of Babelsberg. The location symbolizes the festival's purpose — tolerance is not demanded abstractly, but lived together, in the neighbourhood, at a real place.
