Pentecost Weekend with Double Bass and Quiff

When the sun sets in Potsdam-Babelsberg on Pentecost, a ritual has been taking place for 18 years: PSYCHOMANIA RUMBLE, the largest Psychobilly festival in East Germany, opens its doors. Edition No. 18 on May 23 and 24, 2026, at Lindenpark cements the festival's reputation as the most important gathering for the scene east of Hamburg. Quiffs, tattoos, leather jackets, upright basses — a subculture that, since the late 1970s, developed its own, faster, and harder variant from the English rockabilly tradition with bands like The Meteors and King Kurt.

13 Bands, Seven Countries

The 2026 lineup is a top-class international selection. On Saturday, May 23, the Polecats — British Psychobilly pioneers from the very beginning, whose single 'John I'm Only Dancing' already landed in the UK charts in 1981 — will open. Also playing are Damage Done by Worms (DE), Phantom Rockers (UK), Wallaroos (BE), Psychotropix (DE), and Bad Reputation (DE). Sunday, May 24, is the day for Demented Are Go from Cardiff — one of the loudest and most uncompromising bands in the scene. Also featured: Gorilla (HU), Thee Flanders (DE), Chicken Jump Skips (JP), The Peabrains (USA), Boogie Trash (DE), and Prisoners of Society (ES).

Lindenpark Potsdam — The Venue

Lindenpark on Stahnsdorfer Straße is one of Potsdam's most important socio-cultural centers: emerging in 1996 from a former community hall, it houses a concert hall, beer garden, café, dance studios, and rehearsal rooms. The grounds are family-friendly — no security fuss, friendly audience, good stage technology. Doors open at 5:00 PM on the festival weekend, and the show starts at 5:45 PM. You can relax between acts in the outdoor beer garden, while the sound pumps inside the hall.

Subculture and Brandenburg

Psychobilly is not a fleeting trend — the scene has been stable and intergenerational since the 1980s. At the RUMBLE, you'll meet 20-year-old newcomers and 60-year-old veterans; they travel from Poland, the Czech Republic, Italy, and Scandinavia. Brandenburg, long a region without capital city charm, has found a meeting point in Babelsberg with Lindenpark, a place that takes this subculture seriously and provides space for it. Those attending the festival should be prepared for two loud days, bring good shoes (lots of dancing is expected), and be open to interactions — the scene is small and friendly.

Tickets and Practical Information

Weekend tickets are available in advance for €60 (plus fees), day tickets for €35 (plus fees). At the box office, the weekend ticket costs €70. Tickets via Reservix and the Hate You shops. Travel by tram 91, 92, or 96 to Schaeffer-Stadion stop (approx. 5 min walk). By car via the A 115, exit Babelsberg, parking spaces in the vicinity are limited.
