The cult gala show of the Bavarian-Swabian Carnival Association in Memmingen
The gala show Schwaben weiß-blau hurra und helau is one of the most famous televised carnival galas in Southern Germany. The organizer is the Regional Association of Bavarian-Swabian Carnival Clubs (BSF), which brings together the crème de la crème of Bavarian-Swabian carnival in the Memmingen Stadthalle every year at the end of January. Two gala evenings are recorded, and the show is subsequently broadcast prominently on Bayerischer Rundfunk and SWR. Memmingen, an independent city in southern Swabia (Bavaria), has been the stage for this regional traditional festival for over 20 years.
The program combines traditional carnival speeches (Büttenrede) with modern cabaret, stand-up, and show formats. The 23rd edition features, among others, Heinrich del Core (cabaret), Wolfgang Krebs (parody), Kathi Wolf (comedy), David Berlinghof from Illertissen (newcomer), balloon artist Tobi van Deisner, the duo Hillus Herzdropfa, comedian Hansy Vogt, as well as the BSF regional dance ensemble under Leni Rahm and the acrobatics dance number by Carneval-Club Schlafmützen.
Bavarian-Swabian carnival differs from the Swabian-Alemannic Fasnet (Black Forest, Lake Constance) and the Rhenish Karneval. It combines Southern German carnival customs with Franconian-Bavarian elements and is rooted in the association's area between Augsburg, Memmingen, Donauwörth, and Kempten. Schwaben weiß-blau is the public flagship of this association – a traditional festival that reaches the living rooms of hundreds of thousands of Bavarian households.
The 23rd edition of Schwaben weiß-blau hurra und helau will be recorded over two gala evenings – Thursday, January 22nd, and Friday, January 23rd, 2026 – in the Stadthalle Memmingen before a sold-out audience. It is the cult gala show of the Regional Association of Bavarian-Swabian Carnival Clubs (BSF).
