Town's Advent market at Platz an der Lieser with an additional Advent market on the 3rd Advent weekend
The Platz an der Lieser is Wittlich's central event square – the venue for the summer event series in summer, the Federweißerfest in autumn, and the Wittlich Christmas Days in winter. Its central location on the edge of the old town, with good access to parking and the train station, makes it the ideal spot for the town's major events.
The Wittlich Christmas Days are open from Friday, November 27th, to Tuesday, December 22nd, 2026. Stalls offer mulled wine made from regional Riesling wines, punch, hot drinks, bratwurst, potato pancakes, chestnuts, gingerbread, stollen, candied almonds, cheese platters, and sweet specialties. In addition, there are craft products, jewelry, Advent decorations, and souvenirs.
A special feature of the Wittlich Christmas Days is the Advent market on the 3rd Advent weekend (December 16th and 17th, 2026). On these two days, the regular Christmas market is complemented by an expanded program with additional exhibitors, activities, and cultural offerings – a highlight in the four-week program.
The atmosphere is classically urban-Christmas, with light decorations, fir trees, and Advent music. The accompanying program includes children's activities, small concerts, Advent sing-alongs, and occasional performances by regional choirs and music groups.
The 2026 edition follows the classic format. For four weeks, the market offers a central Advent meeting point for residents and visitors of the region.
The expanded Advent market on the 3rd Advent weekend is one of the highlights and attracts visitors from the entire region.
The exact 2026 program will be published by the organizer in the autumn. Key points from the sources:
