The SUPERBLOOM Concept
The SUPERBLOOM Festival is Munich's curated answer to the major pop open-airs of the summer. Instead of just delivering concerts, the organizers combine two festival worlds: a classic weekend festival with stages, workshops, and performances, and a separate concert series the following week. This creates seven consecutive festival days — a duration unique in Germany.
Munich Olympic Park as the Venue
The Olympic Park, located at Spiridon-Louis-Ring 21 in Munich-Milbertshofen-Am Hart, was built for the 1972 Olympic Summer Games and is an architectural icon with its tent roof by Frei Otto. SUPERBLOOM utilizes the festival grounds around the Olympic Lake and the Olympic Hall, creating a unique atmosphere. The U3 subway line to Olympiazentrum provides easy access — a significant advantage over festivals in the middle of nowhere.
Experience Days vs. Concert Series
The weekend (Saturday-Sunday) is designed as 'Experience Days': multiple stages in parallel, workshops, talks, performances, food zones, wellness areas. It targets a young, curious audience that sees festivals as a lifestyle. The five concert evenings (Monday-Friday), on the other hand, are classic open-air concerts, each featuring a main act and suitable support. Those who want to experience both formats can purchase weekend and day tickets accordingly.
Festival Summer in Munich
Munich is one of Bavaria's strongest festival cities. In addition to SUPERBLOOM, there's the Tollwood Summer Festival, Sommer in der Stadt, Theron Open Air, and numerous concerts in the Olympic Stadium. However, SUPERBLOOM sets its own accent with its international pop focus and dual format.
The Festival and the District
Bavaria and its capital, Munich, combine tradition and internationality: SUPERBLOOM represents the international, young, urban side of Munich and complements the traditional folk festival heritage surrounding Oktoberfest, Frühlingsfest, and Auer Dult. Since its premiere in 2022, the festival has quickly become a fixture in Munich's summer.
