13th colourful music mile in Senden town centre — Folk, Soul, Electronic and for the first time a Senden stage for local artists
What began in 2012 as a small music festival in the market square has developed over 13 years into one of the most prominent open-air events in western Münsterland: on the last Saturday in August, Street Live Senden spreads several stages across the town centre of the 21,000-inhabitant municipality — from the market square and Münsterstraße to small courtyards — bringing music to where summer life is already happening: between the ice cream parlour, café, and pharmacy.
The programme philosophy is broad: the stages feature Folk alongside Soul, Singer-Songwriter next to Cover Rock, with excursions into heavier genres and an electronic corner that has gained importance in recent years. This allows the festival to reach generations from schoolchildren to seniors — a breadth that larger city festivals often lack.
The 2026 edition introduces an important innovation: the Senden Stage, exclusively reserved for musicians with a personal connection to the municipality of Senden (residence, birth, club membership, etc.). Applications were possible until 30 April 2026 via [email protected]. The festival thus sets a clear focus: visibility for the local music scene, which often remains under the radar in competition with established Münsterland acts.
As in previous years, the local station Radio Kiepenkerl will handle the evening moderation: interviews with acts, band announcements, and bridging technical breaks between sets. The cooperation has become an established hallmark and gives the festival a recognisable framework.
An unusual detail service: on request, performing bands and solo artists will receive an audio recording of their set on a USB stick. This is not only a nice gesture but also a valuable demo recording for emerging acts. Few other free festivals offer this service.
Senden is located about 15 kilometres southwest of Münster on the Dortmund-Ems Canal and is one of the classic Münsterland communities with a historic town centre, a moated castle (Haus Venne nearby), and a distinct club structure. Travel by train or bus from Münster is uncomplicated; many visitors combine the festival with a bike tour along the canal.
The 2026 edition continues the proven concept and introduces a platform for local acts with the Senden Stage. As usual, the stages are spread throughout the town centre, with the audience moving between cafés, the market square, and Münsterstraße. Organisers: Municipality of Senden / Cultural Office, contact persons Heri Koch and Volker Sowade.
The current line-up will be announced at senden-westfalen.de/streetlive.
Free admission on all stages. Drinks and food available at stalls.
By car: A43 exit Senden, follow signs for the town centre. Parking around the town centre; if the festival is busy, park at the train station or school centre. By public transport: RB from Münster Hbf to Senden, then a 5-minute walk to the town centre.
Free admission on all stages. Drinks and food available at on-site stalls and in surrounding cafés and restaurants.
Musicians with a connection to Senden could apply until 30 April 2026 via [email protected].
The compact location allows for stage hopping: all venues are reachable within a few minutes' walk. Those who like Folk and Singer-Songwriter should plan for the early afternoon — in the evening, the electronic corner heats up.
