The SV Wechingen Sports Weekend is the summer highlight for the small club in the Donau-Ries. Three days of events – from the pétanque tournament on Friday, youth games and the first team's championship match on Saturday, to the Crazy Girls' show act and the traditional Bavarian evening event. A classic Swabian club festival with catering and a marquee.

SV Wechingen Sports Fest — edition 2026

The 2026 Sports Weekend runs from Friday, July 10th to Sunday, July 12th. Opening with a pétanque tournament on Friday, youth games and the first team's league match on Saturday, followed by the Crazy Girls' show act and a Bavarian Evening in the marquee.

Three Days of Festivities

The concept is tried and tested: On Friday evening, the festival kicks off with the pétanque tournament. On Saturday, from late morning, games on smaller pitches are scheduled for the youth teams, followed by the first team's league match in the afternoon. The evening is ushered in by the show act of the Crazy Girls, after which a live band takes over for the Bavarian Evening.

Family Programme

The festival grounds remain open on Sunday as well – with a morning pint, children's activities, and a relaxed conclusion.

Club Festival in the Donau-Ries

The SV Wechingen organises its traditional sports weekend once a year in the summer. For three days, the club transforms its sports grounds into a meeting point for Wechingen and the surrounding Ries communities – with sports, social gatherings, and a Bavarian festival evening component.

Wechingen in the Bavarian Ries

Wechingen is a municipality with around 1,300 inhabitants in the Donau-Ries district (Bavarian Swabia, Bavaria). The region around Nördlingen is characterised by the Nördlinger Ries – a meteorite crater 25 kilometres in diameter, one of the largest impact craters in Central Europe. In this landscape, sports clubs are traditionally central pillars of village social life.

Three-Day Concept

The format is typical for Swabian sports festivals: Friday opening with a pétanque tournament, Saturday youth day with games on small pitches, the first team's league match in the afternoon, followed by a short show act (for the 2026 edition, this includes a performance by the Crazy Girls) and a traditional Bavarian Evening.
